Why so many pronouns?
From a strict grammar point of view the words below are actually nouns. They are classified as pronouns only because of their meaning. Keep in mind however that depending on the context watashi can be the equivalent of "I, me, my or mine" and kare can be the equivalent of "he, him, his, she or her".
