The -eru form is also called "potential form". It adds "is doable" to a verb original meaning. It is usually translated as "being able to ... | can ..." .

Construction:
It is derived from the dict-form.
Group 1: final "u" becomes "eru"
飲む 飲める nomu nomeru
行く 行ける iku ikeru
会う 会えす au aeru
直す 直せる naosu naoseru
立つ 立てる tatsu tateru
Group 2: final "ru" becomes "[ra]reru"
食べる 食べられる taberu tabe[ra]reru
Group 3
来る 来らみる kuru ko[ra]reru
する できる suru dekiru

Note: The potential form is conjugated like a group 2 verb, therefore:
飲める 飲めます, 飲めました nomeru nomemasu, nomemashita
